Every time our dog back from overgrown land, for example forest, park or meadow, look at it carefully. Ticks usually dig into where the skin is thinnest, so look for mainly in the groin, behind the ears, the neck and armpits. Fresh ticks are most difficult to observe because of their minimum size. Sometimes it is difficult to even feel them by hand, especially if our pet is the owner of lush robes. Tick “screwed into” the dog’s body in the direction of clockwise. In this connection it should be removed by turning in the opposite direction. To do this, grab the tick close to the skin (for example with tweezers) and unscrew it vigorously. We must be careful not to squeeze the tick too strong so that it does not damage it, because it can lead to infection – strangled tick can return some fluid into your dog’s body. Removing ticks do not use any butter, oil, or other greasy formulas! These substances admittedly cut off the air supply the tick and cause him to vomit, and entering hazardous substances into the body. When the tick is removed it is the best to wrap it in a tissue and burn. Do not crush him, because toxic substances leak out. The bit place should be disinfected with hydrogen peroxide and observed for some time. Even if you were unable to pull out the tick entirely – it has been damaged or ruptured – do not leave it so. You need to remove it from the skin with disinfected needle, best of all to go for this purpose to the vet.
